On Writing The Title Of An Article?
hi all,
1. what do you think is more appropriate in writing an article in dealing a number, should i wrote the number in words or in numeral?
2. for example the title of my article is “Over it is 15″; should i write “15″ in words or in number?
3. also, should i capitalize the “it” and “is” or not?
4. please can share a weblink where i can find some proper rules in writing titles in an article?
thanks

When I was is school I was always told that if it was under ten or twenty then you spell it but anything over that then you can use the numbers. it and is I don’t think are words that you capitalize in a title; unless they are the beginning of your title. I do agree that your title there does not make any kind of sense. I hope this helps!
… that doesn’t sound like a very coherent title, just so you know. You do not capitalize the “is,” but you may or may not capitalize the “it” depending on whether you think it looks good or not. Usually, you should. However, when dealing with numbers IN an article, you should spell it out unless it’s something long like 15,000,000, in which case you would just do fifteen million or 1.5 million. In a TITLE, though, it all depends on you. You can leave it in number form or not.
I’m guessing that English isn’t your first language, but you’re doing very well.
In your title, you should capitalize each word. I also think that numbers twenty and under should be written out.
The best reference I know of is an older but still useful book by Strunk and White, called “The Elements of Style.”
